Reel Community

Reel Community is a ‘take back our parks’ initiative, giving residents a reason to visit local City parks for a free and safe outdoor event. This program is not only aimed to strengthen social cohesion throughout the City of Benton Harbor and neighboring communities, but will also serve as a means to create a sense of affinity to our public parks. In a collaborative effort, we hope to deter inappropriate loitering, after-hours park use, and provide residents with an opportunity to feel safe in their local park – thus encouraging future visits. In doing so, we are aligning with the Benton Harbor CDC’s and Let Us R.E.S.T’s vision of building a healthy, safe and thriving community.

The Reel Community series will host 6 events throughout the Summer. The events will provide free, family friendly fun, for all ages. Each week during the event, we’ll spotlight a local community organization to inform residents of resources that are available to them.
